One of my earliest memories as a young boy in the West Midlands of England was the state funeral of Winston Churchill (1874-1965), which was a decision made by our late Queen because of his remarkable leadership during one of the darkest periods of British history.
I agree that Churchill was the man of the hour. Evidently there were no Baptists statemen that God could call on. Thinking back to another time of crisis, God used Esther, "for such a time as this". Not sure that she was a Baptist either. Seems the internet has a volunteer scold force that confuses criticism with creation. Inspectors not initiators.
Good thoughts! I'm a big WSC fan, but to be fair, the arc of his WWII war leadership was up and down. Contrast to FDR who gave his generals all the leeway they needed to prosecute the war - he didn't interfere at operational level. Their Unconditional Surrender mandate at Casablanca did set the strongest tone and put the ETOW at all or nothing status
Small minds debase large minds.

Maybe his advanced degree hasn't advanced enough :-)
